The Starmaker Theatre Company is performing their new production, 13 The Musical, this week in Woodley.
Geek. Poser. Jock. Beauty Queen. Wannabe. These are the labels that can last a lifetime. With an unforgettable rock score from Tony Award-winning composer, Jason Robert Brown, (Parade, The Last Five Years, Bridges of Madison County). 13 is a musical about fitting in – and standing out! Evan Goldman is plucked from his fast-paced, pre-teen New York city life and plopped into a sleepy Indiana town following his parents divorce. Surrounded by an array of simpleminded middle school students, he needs to establish his place in the popularity pecking order. Can he situate himself on a comfortable link of the food chain… or will he dangle at the end with the outcasts?
The director is Katie Upton, musical director is Amy Bingham and Hannah King and the choreographer is Elsie Wood-Blagrove.
Parental guidance recommended for this show due to some mature content and language. Warning: this show contains two short scenes with strobe lighting.
The show will be performed at The Alan Cornish Theatre, The Oakwood Centre, Woodley, RG54JZ from March 23 to 25 at 7.30pm every evening and with a matinee performance on the Saturday. Tickets are £16 for adults and £14 with concessions.
Starmaker provides children from as young as four with the opportunity to sing, dance, and act at their stage school. The company puts on two to three fantastic shows a year at the best venues in the area including The Wilde Theatre in Bracknell, The Whitty Theatre in Wokingham, The Alan Cornish Theatre in Woodley and The Concert Hall in Reading. They also offer an annual summer school and weekly LAMDA classes at South Lake Primary School in Woodley, Reading, both of these are offered to all levels of ability and no previous experience is required.
