Wokingham Winter Carnival hosted an impressive Laser Light Show that amazed the thousands of people that had attended the Winter Carnival. As darkness fell at about 1645 hours on Sunday 27th November 2022 the crew behind the Laser show got into action and created a stunning display of lights shining over Wokingham Town Hall. The event was organized by Wokingham Lions and was a brilliant success with thousands of people lining the streets of Wokingham Town Centre
This year Winter Carnival saw over 125 stalls, funfair rides, food, and entertainment. The town was closed to traffic for the day so children can join in the fun in a totally safe environment. There’s a whole host of street entertainers, music, singing, dancing and the fun of the fair with loads of different rides, whether you’re young or old.
The Winter Carnival has been held in Wokingham since 1994. The initial event was started by Keith Hoskins, the Town Centre Manager at the time, together with a few town centre shop owners. Since then it has grown into a popular annual event that benefits from the support of Wokingham Town Council, the Wokingham Society, many business sponsors and the Wokingham residents.
The event gives the opportunity for many local charities to run stalls to raise money for their worthwhile causes.
Each year the Winter Carnival has been able to provide support to local charities with funds raised over and above the running costs of the event. Despite the changes over the years the aims have remained the same:
- To provide a FREE event for all the family and provide positive opportunities to continue developing community spirit.
- To encourage young people to get involved and feel valued
- To provide a platform for local charities to raise funds and develop their profile.
