The sun was out this Saturday for a glorious day for cricket. Wokingham CC fielded no less than Seven teams for Saturday‘s round of matches. The first team playing at home to Harefield won the toss and elected to field first.
Harefield got away to a good start putting on 42 for the first wicket, before Callum Creighton ( 1- 28) claimed the first wicket, from then on Wokingham took regular wickets to keep the score down and finally bowled Harefield out for 195. Max Uttley (3-23) and Shaan Khan ( 3-37) doing most of the damage
Wokingham reply wasn’t going well at one point being 60-4, but a patient 56 off 100 balls from Shaan Khan and valuable runs for Andy Rishton (36), Chris Peploe ( 20) and Sukhmeet Kang ( 20*),saw Wokingham home by two wickets.
The 2nds were at Uxbridge and came away 5 wickets winners thanks to outstanding bowling from Finn Catherwood-Smith (4-12) and Jacob Clark ( 4-22) ,bowling out Uxbridge for just 101.
Wokingham started well with an opening stand of 30 , but with a middle-order wobble saw them slide to 85-5 , but with Michael Cowdell with a very important 19 off 41 balls and Jacob Clark (34) Wokingham reached their target in just over 24 overs.
The third team played away at White Waltham and batted fir.An opening stand of 58 between Rahul Patel (21) and Tassawar Nawaz (80), followed by another stand of 106 between Nawa and Kunal Mogla (63) saw Wokingham score reach a very impressive 262-6 off 45 overs.
Wokingham had to fight hard to keep White Waltham at bay with Ryan Pogson
(5-40) and David Bishop (2-8) helped to bowl out the opposition for 247 and give Wokingham a 15-run victory.
The fourth team played White Waltham at home. Batting first Wokingham posted 173-7,Akshay Dhandra with a top score of 37. Dhandra (3-17) was also the pick of the bowlers ,but White Waltham ran out 5 wicket winners.
The firth team travelled to Bradfield and posted a good score of 217-9 off their 45 overs with Jitto Joseph (74) and Shiv Muniyappa (43) top scoring.
Bradfield with a very strong batting lineup edged past Wokingham total 7 balls to spare,winning by 7 wickets.
The sixth team fared better at home to Bradfield , winning by 7 wickets. Thomas Williams (3-41) and Jason Stotesbury (41) are the top bowler and batsmen.
Wokingham Oaks & Acorns team lost out at home to Eversley ,going down by 86 runs, Suneer Bhat (50) and Tony Kemsley (45) top scoring and Roger Heath (3-21) was the leading wicket-taker.
Emmbrook and Bearwood CC had three teams out this Saturday
The first team played at Braywood. Skipper Jack Narraway won the toss and elected to bat first.
Alex Cobb (7) went early with the score on 17 but with Matt Loxton (43) and Sean Woodward (41) Emmbrook posted a total of 182 all out off 42 overs.
Braywood were never in the match as opening bowlers Tom Stevenson ( 3-13) and Charlie Sawyer ( 3-21) wiped out the top order for 25 runs leaving Andy Lazenbury to (3-6 ) to mop up the tail giving Emmbrook a massive 98 run win
The second team played Hurley at home and was asked to bat first by the Hurley Skipper.
Emmbrook were soon in trouble after some very tight bowling from Hurley and found themselves at 25-5. Enter youngsters Harry Sweetnam (13) and Connor Simpson (27) who both batted with great skill and determination to help take the score up to 73-7. A last wicket stand of 20 between Alec McNab(13*) and Rahul Soni (9) got Emmbrook’s total to 99 all out
The total was never going to be enough, and Hurley reached the winning total off 17.4 overs ,Chris Simmonds (2-18) the pick of the bowler .
The third team went to Shinfield.Emmbrook batted first and were all out for 71 ,Akilan Nilavalagan (19) top run getter . Shinfield made light work in reply ,getting the runs in just 9.1 overs and losing only one wicket to win by nine wickets.
Binfield put out four teams for their round of matches this Saturday.
The first team went to Slough and batted first after winning the toss
Celliers( 35) and D.Humphey ( 25) put on 69 for the first wicket,once the two openers had been removed I.Humphry ( 38) and Negus ( 82) added another 79 runs and with Collett hitting 21 off just ten balls at the end Binfield posted a score of 260-7 off 50 overs
Slough’s reply was going well at 110-5 before Arnold ( 4-29) came into the attack and reduced Slough to 129 all out giving Binfield a 130-run win.The seconds were at home to Wargrave. Binfield won the toss and put Wargrave into bat . Wargrave reached 216-7 off their 45 overs . Sennis (51) led the way batting and with five other batsmen all getting into the twenties Binfield reached 218-8 and with only two balls remaining winning by two wickets.
The third team played away at Falkland, bowling first Kamal Gupta ( 4-35) and Lewis King (3-31) bowled Falkland out for 263. Binfield’s reply never got going and despite Tim Vines
(30) Paul Edgington ( 34) and Jai Goyal (36) , Binfield were bowled out for 175,losing by 88 runs
The fourth team played Reading at home ,and after winning the toss put Reading into bat .
After an opening stand of 31,Reading were bowled out for 99 with Simon Cowley (4-35) and two wickets each for Rakesh Sugumar (2-30) and Steve Andrews ( 2-3) .
Binfield reply was in trouble early on with both openers out with only 15 runs on the board, but a stand of 66 between Dan Orford ( 29) and James Bennett ( 28) helped Binfield to a six-wicket win
Finchampstead CC put out Five teams for their fixtures
The first team were at home to Banbury.On winning the toss Banbury elected to bat first and with the first to wickets put on 122 runs,with more hard-hitting from the middle order Banbury hit a huge total of 285-6 off their 50 overs , Samm Daniel ( 3-49) the main wicket-taker.
Finch were soon struggling at 14-2 ,a 51-run stand between Tommie Predgen ( 39) and Toby Albert ( 29 ) could not help Finchampstead being bowled out for 116 and suffering a 169 run defeat
The second team played away at Reading. Batting first Finch posted a score of 195-7 D.Patel (51*) top scoring.
In a tense finish Reading reached the winning total with just one wicket left to take the victory ,M,Laithwaite (4-42) unlucky to be on the losing team .
The thirds hosted Thatcham Town and batted first ,reaching 202-8 off their 45 overs.Thatcham knocked off the runs in 42.4 and won by six wickets
The fourth team played at Bagshot and were also beaten by 6 wickets .Finch batted first and hit a score of 192-8 off 45 overs . Bagshot reached their target after just 35 overs
The fifth team played away at Newbury and came away winning by 96 runs
Earley CC first team played at home to Checkendon.
The visitors elected to bat first and were dismissed for 208 runs ,Bhargav Sutapalli (5-53) doing the most damage to the Checkendon batting order.
Earley in reply soon had half their team out with only 49 runs on the board , Vish Shende ( 32) and Venu Gudimetla ( 49) held up the innings for a while, but Earley were finally bowled out for 148 off 30.3 overs and lost by 60 runs
The seconds played away at Twyford and Ruscombe.Batting first Twyford hit a daunting 311-4 off 40 overs.Not much went right in Earley innings and were skittled out for just 79 runs in 31.5 overs ,losing by 232 runs
Hurst CC were at home to Harpsden this week
Batting first Hurst could only reach 117 all out, after being 53-1 at one stage, Lewis Smith (26) top scoring. Harpsden made short work of the reply, getting to 118 -3 off 25.5 overs for a 7-wicket win.
